15 JUNE 2023
We're pleased to launch our latest Research & Innovation Work Group (RIWG), 'Characteristics of SEND', led by Alan Edmiston, SEND Advisor & Editor of Equals publication.
What's it all about?
This work group will support teachers and experts to consider how to create an inclusive classroom, in which all learners are engaged in mathematical thinking.
By getting involved, you'll be working with like-minded professionals - each with a passion for SEND - to develop and shape ideas and approaches to overcome barriers to mathematical understanding. As part of this group, you will take part in four sessions - including classroom observation of pupils being taught by the Work Group Lead during sessions 1 and 3.
You'll also have the opportunity to explore the recent SEND work, on lesson design and curriculum provision, which has been taking place nationally over the last couple of years; as well as having access to specific materials and guidance designed to support teachers in mainstream, special schools and alternative provision settings.
Want to get involved?

We know that sustaining Teaching for Mastery (TfM) can be tricky. Every school has its own individual needs, which means there's no such thing as a 'one size fits all' approach.
That's why we're launching a brand new, and improved, Primary TfM Sustaining programme offering this year. It's designed to enable schools to choose from a broad range of workshops and activities that will enable them to continue their TfM journey, in a way that's right for them.
From GLOW Live classroom events, to bespoke workshops that cover topics including: Mixed Age Classrooms, Use of a Scheme and New Maths Lead, we believe there's something for everyone.

GLOW Live is a primary school, open classroom event that gives teachers the opportunity to see our Teaching for Mastery (TfM) programme in action.
Hosted by our Local Leaders of Maths Education (LLMEs), in their own classrooms, GLOW Live enables you to observe, discuss and ask questions about how this approach could work in your school.
If you'd like to understand the positive impact Teaching for Mastery can have on children's learning, please come along and find out.
If you love maths - the chances are you want your pupils to love maths, too.
At GLOW Maths, we believe every child can do, and can enjoy, mathematics.
